Another perfect birthday for a lovely little girl and her friends. Hazel turned five years old on Thursday and it was a momentous occassion marked with her grandma’s visit from Northern California to our home in Albuquerque, NM.

All of her decorations were handmade with a Gabby’s Dollhouse inspired theme, complete with a kitty fairy garden cake. We made a vanilla cake from scratch plus a vanilla buttercream crumb layer, wrapped in a soft-pink fondant coupled with pastel blue and green gum paste flowers. We accomplished six layers this year, my biggest homemade cake yet. Maybe for six years old, we will aim for eight layers, mercy.

Did I mention the best part, balloons, bubbles and an awesome song mix. We had an epic amount of balloons in fact that mommy is still working to clean-up.

For our summer-time menu, we had teriyaki chicken and tofu, roast beef and swiss cheese and turkey and cheese roll-ups, an assortment of chips and fruit skewers. It all went by so fast, I am not sure we even took pictures of all of the subtle details.

Hazel dressed up as mercat in addition to a gabby’s dollhouse dress-up for her friends too. Her daddy made it right before she blew out her candles, ready to party as dj catnip.

Thank you to all of her friends and parents who came. It turned out to be a splendid occassion with wonderful guests to share her special day. Cheers to a successful upcoming Kindergarten school year and all of the memories ahead.
